Re: Folding prop to Attalia

Best bet to get the proper blade will be to go direct to the manufacture of the blade you want to use, then they can spec it for you. My Arcadia, 2' shorter with the same 2gm motor uses a 2 blade 14" max prop. I can get hull speed out of it really easy. The pitch at least for mine, if I swapped out for a 3 blade would be the same, but you get more bite. So in rougher waters motoring against it, or a current, you should not lose as much speed per say.

If you are going to change out props, my suggestion is to bite the bullet and go for a folding/feathering prop, and gain upwards of .5-.7 knots of boat speed in most conditions. ALong with if you go with a max prop at least, reverse is way better than a fixed in reverse. IIRC close to 95% equal forward. Some of the other brands have similar increase/decreas forward vs reverse. Kiwi seems to be popular among those posting on the jeanneau-owners forum site.

Re: Folding prop to Attalia

Hello,
The 2 bladed prop on my Attalia is marked 7 84K11 RH. It seems to be similar to yours. My engine is a 2GM20. I am tempted to change the prop to a 3 blade or folding prop but i am a bit lost when it comes to chosing a new prop. I also want to make sure i get some additional speed when motoring

Folding prop to Attalia

I've an Attalia (from 1984) with VP2002 (18hp) and a two bladed fixed propeller marked 84K11. I'm thinking about change to a folding propeller, but I don't know which size will be the best one.

Have anyone had the same (brand) propeller that I have? If so is, do you know what type of shaft it is? Straight or cone formed? If cone formed - how cone formed, 1:10, 1:20 or another dimension? (The boat is in the water for the moment, so I can't take the prop away at the moment. Would like to take her up first when I have the new prop.)

Have anyone, who has the same engine as I, changed to a folding propeller? What is a good size of a folding propeller, according to the engine and the boat?

/Virgo
