Compass-boxing Fails--curmudgeonly comments

Do i blame Alfred Hitchcock? Or the Austin Music fest? Or the whole creative-arts/gallery/festival world?

No one seems willing or able to use correct compass point references in coming up with a catchy name--maybe the real compass points just aren't catchy??

North by Northwest---no
Northwest by North---yes

South by Southwest--no
Southwest by South--yes

and so on and so on around the card. The artsy world is hopeless.

It's all here gang:

Curmudgeons or defenders of the Arts, please chime in.

Just writing this made me feel old....
