Re: New Caledonia not expensive at all.
Being an island nation, I'm sure they import nearly everything. How are food prices?

New Caledonia not expensive at all.
We left Australia from the South Port Seaway, Thursday the 16 May and took a rhumb line straight to Noumea. winds where light to moderate from all points West making a rolley passage. We tied up at Port Moselle Marina, 132.5 hours later. The journey over was uneventful with the need to motor for a total of 66 Hours.
The Marina staff organized all the paperwork and contacted customs, immigration and Quarantine. Quarantine where the only ones to come to the boat.
The first surprise was the Marina fees, $150 p/w for up to 12M boats. but we did need to buy a strange french plug for 240v power at $10, and a hose fitting for water at $3.50.
Food prices are on a par with Oz, if you stick to local and French products. Good French wine is a third of the cost that we pay in Oz and the same for cheese. Diesel is $1.38 litre and should be less duty free.
