Compass-Safe distance is normally listed in the "install" docs with the instruments.
Have a look at this in their on-line manuals. Either at the Raymarine site or third party sites.
I found one easily by searching "ST 40 install manual"
Based on experience, I would not expect any interference. Proly better to keep 'em a foot apart, tho.
Those were good quality basic instruments, albeit a decade ago. We still have the next model up from that, the ST-60 wind, speed, and depth, and they look and work perfect. DO keep the cover on it when not using it, to protect from UV and rain.

Re: Compass Location
Probably will have no effect if the power leads to them are twisted.
However, experiment always trumps theory so simply try it. Put your hand compass near the instruments and see what happs.

I have ordered a new bulkhead compass and want to mount it below the speed/depth instruments (Raymarine ST40). My question is: Will the instruments interfere with the compass? I am trying to keep everything on the starboard side of the cockpit.
