Trophy Braid is heavy and absorbs water. I don't like that aspect of it for sheets.
The sheets on the working jib on my old boat are Trophy Braid. The sheets on the genoa are XLS Extra.
I will say that the Trophy Braid does a better job of not coming out of the self tailing part on self tailing winches. It also does feel nicer in the hand.

Re: Samson Trophy Braid for sheets?
Yes, go buy used sheets on eBay. There are plenty of great deals there. Why buy new?

Samson Trophy Braid for sheets?
Samson sells a double braid intended for sheets called Trophy Braid, which it describes as having a fuzzy-ish exterior for easier handling (presumably against mainstream double braids like Samson XLS or NER Sta-Set).
Trophy Braid is a little bit stretchier and has less SWL than the same-sized XLS, but for our cruising use neither are important. An improved hand though, does hold appeal if there are no others downsides.
Anybody have any first-hand experience / opinions?
