Re: C-Map Max vs. Navionics Platinum+

We had our first run with the Navionics Platinum+ this weekend, wow, very nice! I can't figure out how to turn on SonarChart on my NSS though. Working with Navionics and Simrad to figure that out.

The Platinum+ is a huge upgrade over my Insight chart package. Quite a bit more detailed contour lines, I really like it.

I bought it for $264 shipped from Star Marine Depot. Since it has better information (tides/currents, aerial photos, more detail) for Puget Sound than the silver charts that came with my GPS it was a worthwhile upgrade.

I just got back from a month cruise, including 3 weeks in BC. The charts were great.
Nice find, double thanks! Looks like a great boating ecommerce site and the lowest price on the exact chart set (913P) I was looking for.

I don't navigate by sexton anymore since I found him verging near the rectory.http://www.sailnet.com/forums/images...es/biggrin.gif

I like Navionics. That price seems reasonable.

C-Map Max vs. Navionics Platinum+

Those who still navigate by sexton and moisture collected in ones' beard, please avert your eyes.

So we are heading up into the great white north of Canada in a month. I just bought my Canadian chart book but I need to upgrade my Simrad NSS with Canadian charts. I have two options now, C-MAP MAX-N (Max version that supports Simrad) or Navionics Platinum+. C-MAP is around $175 and I found a deal for Navionics for $299, usually $399.

So what you say you from the community of modern navigators?

thanks!
