Re: How to operate this #*%!! Victron 602??

I have this in my little "boat book"
Battery Monitor
  • V - voltage
  • I - current
  • CE - consumed energy
  • SOC - state of charge
  • TTG - Time to go in hours
"There are three things that go as you get older, Howard, your eye sight, your hearing and I can't remember the third."

Re: How to operate this #*%!! Victron 602??

Mine has done 14 auto resets in 6 months.
I turned off the shore charger once I installed solar, 2 resets since then (2 months).
Needless to say I run 100% all day, get to 95% over night (I leave my fridge and fans running).

I generally change that parameter to 1% - 1.5%. 4% is simply too high and is merely the default..

That said the ONLY WAY these monitors remain accurate over the long term is with manual re-sets.

All the parameters are adjustable and it is up to you to decide what you want to deem "full". If you are at a dock with shore charger then 1% will work well. If you only ever charge via alternator then getting to 2% would take a very long time so 2% is often better for this type of charging.

Solar and wind tend to trick these into false resets so best to manually synch when "known full".. Eg: 1% acceptance at 14.4V....

These monitors use time, voltage and % current to re-set. All are adjustable. You have full control over how and when it will re-set.

625 AH.

It has to know how to gauge that amount of energy you have left in the batteries.

AFAIK, the most important setting is the battery size (AH) which it uses to work out the state of charge - the other settings can usually be left as they are. ..but none of the default settings affects the display of volts and amps.

EDIT: The Battery Capacity menu setting is "Cb" - in AH.

I'm sure you'll find it to be a most useful gadget once you get it working.

It is correctly connected to the start battery but I see no way to tell the instrument to read it's voltage. I find the manual completely incomprehensable.
What's a good source for info on this device?

Once you've figured that one out, try this:
