.
The warnings are there but you had to know what to look for.

Many years ago, back before these storms were detected far in advance I moved to FL and became friends with a couple of locals whose dads were commercial fishermen. One day were were fishing along the shore and they looked out and said something big was out there and moving in. To me, everything looked calm and looked like good weather. The next day one of the big "no-name" storms hit, catching the weather forcasters completely by surprise.

The local commercial fishermen were OK because they didn't go out that morning. They knew, even though the forcasters didn't have a clue.

There was a report on CNN from a beach near where landfall is expected and it was an idyllic morning. She mentioned how it would have been 150 years ago when there would have been little warning of what was coming. She said no warning but there a few signs.

For those in the area, this is a pretty shallow area is it not? Waves would be much worse in really shallow areas.

"Go West, young man".... That ESE wind is your friend, and should blow you away from trouble, especially if you head that way ;-) Best wishes and stay safe.
