Re: NOAA Stops Printing Nautical Charts

My yacht club doesn't have the demand to justify this yet, but we explored getting a high quality plotter to print charts for our members. While it wouldn't work for us, I can easily see a number of places in Florida, or other high transit areas buying a plotter (around $1,000) and printing off large scale charts for transient boats as they pass thru.

Heck I can envision larger ships stopping the practice of updating charts completely, and just printing off new charts every week instead.

I thought paper charts could only be purchased through agents for years now. They will still provide POD NOAA charts.
