Volvo Penta MD6A Thermostat

Hello Everyone,

I popped open the thermostat housing today and notice the thermostat has been gutted. Only the seal remains with ring of metal to hold it in place. Someone didn't like it so they obviously took the cutters to it.

A few questions...

What temperature would the stock thermostat be set to open at on a small diesel like the MD6A?

Where could I get one at a reasonable price in Ontario?

Why would you cut out a thermostat like that?

What temperature would the stock thermostat be set to open at on a small diesel like the MD6A?

Thanks for any information!
