Re: 2013 Was A Great Season!

2013 should have been the best year yet, almost all of the projects got done, some great sails, fabulous neighbours and some really interesting Wednesday nights. Then a freak storm ripped out two moorings and tangled two boats wrecking the bow on my 270 and the stern and engine on my buddy's H25.
Thankfully the cluster-u-know-what with the insurance people has only been slightly annoying, and things are starting to come together.
2014 will see a significant repair job which will include a new bow rail, stem fitting, a bunch of gelcoat work to what was (and will again be) a pristine hull, and installation of the Selden ring for the new sprit. It's not all a total loss, there's new go-fast involved!
Oh yeah, new barrier coat and I'm going to replace all the thru-hulls with machined to fit brass so they are flush to the existing holes, and installation of the CD rudder bushing repair kit to take that slop out.
(Should be ready by this time next year ha ha)

Re: 2013 Was A Great Season!

2013 saw me finally buy my first sailboat. A Catalina 27 (#5321). Took it around the harbor here in Northport before bringing her in for Winter Storage. Been spending my time since then to determine what projects I want to get done before her launch in April.

Currently, I have 3 projects I would like to get done.
P1 - Move Traveller from rear boom to Midships
P2 - Install Safety Lines on Port/Stbd sides
P3 - Move Clutch and Throttle control to Edson Pedestal

Looking forward to sailing Huntington Harbor and the Long Island/Connecticut shore this coming season. Photos will follow.

Future projects will include the rewiring of the DC Circuit and the addition of an AC Circuit to the boat, redesign of the distribution panel to the area between the stbd settee and pilot berth, move batteries to stbd rear settee, addition of 1000W inverter and relocation of battery charger both to be located behind the stbd settee back cushion.

Many of the inspirations for improvement are coming from Judy B's Bijou
A Catalina 27 Website
and Bruce H's Modifications to his 1978 Catalina 27 Sailboat, Hull # 3854.

Welcome other ideas for projects.

2013 Was A Great Season!

Norahs Ark is on the hard now after an enjoyable sailing season on the Saint John river and lake system and one trip on the Bay of Fundy. Logged over 600 miles this summer with only one problem, had to have the alternator rebuilt.
Hope everyone else had the same kind of summer and I envy those who can sail year round.

Let's hear from others and maybe trade a few stories.

PS:My first attempt at starting a thread so please excuse any errors.
