Re: Crew available for Caribbean Jan 10th

Hi Zanshin,

Thanks for the response/advice.

I'm open to a paid or unpaid/shared expenses crew position.

I am available from any port in FL or am willing to fly to US or British VI, Dominican Repub, Puerto Rico, or another island with sizable ariport. I can fly back from the same place or a different one.

I'm a female in my early 30s and a US citizen.

Re: Crew available for Caribbean Jan 10th

Welcome to Sailnet, Avocados.

While your first post was a good one, there are some questions that are going to be asked in the course of the thread so I'll just go ahead and post them:

- "Crew position" is a bit vague in that it can refer to a position where you expect to be paid but it might mean an unpaid berth as well (which is what I think you meant to say). In addition you should state that you can fly out to {name country} and return from there.
- Age, nationality and sex. The first doesn't have to be posted in public, but the other two items ought to be.

Crew available for Caribbean Jan 10th

I am seeking a crew position in the Caribbean starting around January 10th and I am available thru Feb 7th (dates are a bit flexible). Please let me know if you have a position available.

I'm an active person and in addition to sailing, I like to hike, bike, rock climb, and do various other outdoor activities. I also meditate and do yoga, and I love books, word games, bad jokes, and outlandish stories. I'm a decent cook, and a true omnivore (I will eat almost anything but I don't mind cooking and eating vegetarian, vegan, or other specialty diets). I've done a variety of things to support myself but the fields that I'm most passionate about are health education, sex education, herbalism, and food and farming.

My dad has a 26' MacGregor, which I have experience sailing with him. Mostly lake sailing, but we've sailed it in the Keys a bit. I've also sailed on boats of various sizes on the Charles River, Lake Ontario, and the Chesapeake Bay, including a 10-day Outward Bound sailing course as a teen but I have no open ocean experience. I have basic boat handling skills, know my knots, can use a GPS and charts, and pick up new skills quickly. I'm also very neat and organized which can be useful in a small space. I also have CPR, First Aid, and Wilderness First Responder training.
