I agree! cutting board material will do the same job(basically what it is anyway) first make a template using cardboard, then cut the material to specs, mount some readily available hardware from home D, west M or lowes and whalah! $350.00 saved to buy dinner and drinks

CaptKermie Funny how all those stern rail or stern perch seats are hard flat surfaces to sit on, must be uncomfortable after a while. I have a clipper canoe at the side of my house that I have done long trips in and never had a case of tired bum. That is because they are contoured seats, like tractor seats that are moulded to fit ones glutes. They have drain holes at the lowest spot so you don't sit in a puddle of water. The bow seat also sits on a sliding rail so that weight can be trimmed. These seats are made to sit in for hours and hours of paddling without having to endure bum fatigue. Why the stern seats on boats aren't made with them always baffled me, haven't they ever seen a modern canoe before? Anyone contemplating their own design should visit a canoe distributor and pick up a couple of them, they are made of plastic or something similar but are very comfortable and could easily be retro-fitted to existing seat frames. Just a thought.

pigslo Should the site include a disclosure ...."Price does not include the pair of legs or breasts in photo!"

sailortjk1 Try these people.

I know its for a stern seat, but it might be a start for you.
You'll have to do some more investigating.

Bow seat?

I'm certain its been here before, but where can I find information on making or purchasing a seat that would go between the stanchions on the bow. One of my memorable experiences is sitting there and enjoying a cup of coffee as the boat is moving along. We were on a big cat and everyone seemed to enjoy that seat. I have a Morgan OI 30 and it looks like there is room to do it.
