So do I and yes, the boat is moored in the channel in La Conner. It wasn't what I started out looking at either but it grew on me. I reckon I can race around the cans in my little boat and race that one in some distance races. The thing I like about it is the fact that some PNW sunshine won't be an issue at all if I wanna go sailing. I can sit in the cockpit and tiller steer while dripping wet or go in the pilothouse where it's warm and dry to wheel steer from a comfy helm chair. It all depends on how old school I feel on a given day. It's the first tiller/wheel combo boat I've ever seen with a disengage feature on the tiller.

A pilot house is the only way to go in the PNW if you want to extend your sailing season. When I saw the add placing it in LaConner I wondered where in the PNW the water was that color, but you say it has been to South America so I guess that is where the photo shoot took place. Nice looking boat, wish my wife would let me buy a pilot house so I could sail more, but she hates the styling, goes more for the sleek look. Maybe in a few more years.

Agreeing with Valiente here. It does seem damnably cheap for all that boat !! Maybe it's the timber thing or maybe it's just the comparison between what is for sail down here for a lot more money.

I haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet. I still have to sell the house first. The only thing I didn't like about the boat was a lack of a traditional settee. The sorry excuse for one that it has leaves my head to smack the deck join when I lean back. I'm eyeballing a replacement strategy for that issue. I spoke with Robert Perry while helping him move into his new digs last Saturday and told him somemore about the boat. He was impressed with it and said what he really liked about the Nordic 44 was how balanced and easy it sailed. The hull isn't a slow design as it rates at 84 PHRF NE. DENR, you live where? If you were from the US, you would understand that "Mamma" means wife when used in this context. When ya have to live with a woman, it pays to get her tacit approval on a big-assed boat BEFORE ya spend money on it, unless ya really wanna sleep and sail alone.

I just opened this thread this morning and realized it was about a local (to me) boat. We keep our boat in La Conner too. Have you checked to see if you can keep the dock space if you buy the boat? Dock space can be hard to find for certain sizes.

Hey Erps, I've seen your boat somewhere recently, and I haven't been to LaConner in the last 6 mos. Were you at Anacortes or Blakely Is. or possibly Canoe Cove or Cowichan Bay,BC lately?

CC, beautiful boat, isn't there a dinette up in the pilothouse? or could you put one there? As far as moorage goes, Cap Sante just put in a bunch of new slips, but they may be bigger than you would need. They are going to rip out ours soon to put in more big slips. Good luck on the boat. John

Greetings John,

We're out and about year round, although we stay pretty close to home in the dead of winter (Coronet Bay). Our other favorite spot is Doe Island. It's just one of those little spots where you can often tie up to the float and have the whole Island to ourselves (doh!-forget I said that). We were over to Spencer Spit and went by Blakely Island recently as well as going by Anacortes. There is usually cold beer in the box. Stop by next time.

Nah, the PH is pretty small and has two bench seats on the back wall that are fine if you're 6' 2 " or shorter, I'm 6-4. The only sorry excuse for a dinette is on the Portside and has a funky little fold out table that would end up in file 13 if I bought the boat.

Luv it on forums like this, "didn't I see that boat recently smoehweres......?!?!?!"

Just like when I went thru the lacaonner canal taking my boat to MSC in anacortes to have some owrk done here, I saw the Boat CC is looking at moored with the forsale sign on it! I'll hopefully be picking my boat up to head to poets cove next weekend.

Ray, when I see you again I'll swing by, I must have seen the boat when you were going through Peavine or something, I remember the name. "Tie 'er Loose" is on the hard in Anacortes, hopefully launch next week sometime. It's a green hulled pilothouse, if you see it give us a shout, we keep it in the Blakely Marina(which is now open again). You were talking about that Doe Island way over by Victoria, right?;-)) Sorry to hijack the thread CC. John

Interesting. The price seems low for a cold-molded one-off with such beautiful details. What's wrong with it? You did notice the rust bleeding down the chainplates, right?

I just spent the winter sitting next to a Henry Scheel designed one-off 44' cold molded sloop. The hull is built exactly as you describe for this boat. If anything, it has MORE brightwork than the boat in the ad. Be forewarned: the owner has just spent 3 months digging out punky wood from the keel (on the INSIDE), cutting new pieces, and laminating them in. The owners of cold molded boats insist they're not the same as wood, but the evidence speaks for itself.

Hope you have good carpentry skills and access to a nice shop. Good luck.

blt2ski- we were hauled out at North Harbor, which is south of you at MSC. It's actually a couple blocks away from there in a white, fabric quonset hut, I have a private guy doing the work. If I get over to Anacortes today I'll drive by MSC, what type of boat is it? John

John,

I have an older Jeanneau Arcadia. Not sure at this time if I will get up there from Edmonds or not, but would like to. I have some interior things to install. If I am their, I'll be driving a white chevy crewcab dually with handle name on license. It'll either be parked in the front, or like last sunday, I parked inside the gate in front of amoretto. name is on the side.
