|jackytdunaway||anytime you are in the area around Cape Lookout holler out to the Drumwagon and say high. My father has been going thru chemo and can't get out on the island but he keeps the VHF on and is right there on the mainland.|

I'd be surprised if Jayme lets you live after posting that photo of her feeding the fishies.... you should know better.
BTW, a good P&S digital camera for the boat is the Olympus 770 SW or the Pentax Optio W30. Both are fairly resilient and water-proof to some degree. I have an older Pentax Optio that I keep on the boat as a full-time camera, so I don't have to risk my good DSLR most of the time.
If you do want to use a DSLR on-board a boat, I highly recommend getting the Kata camera cover, to protect it from spray.

I'll second on the Canon. Go RAW! Great colors that way. I also use an $89 Kodak more often in the cockpit and found it takes incredible pictures too.
In the arial pcture of Cape Lookout - that southern tip has the biggest sea shells I have ever seen. Most places they're picked over before I wake up but not there. You can fill a sack with softball size and larger shells in minutes.
Didn't read the copyright part before I made that compass picture my wall paper . . . oh well. Nice shot.
