I think that this is what caught your dad's attention:
"The Optisailors PRO Racer includes: <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O /><O></O>
·Your choice of top-level Racing Spars - Although the Blackgold EX975spar set is consider the best worldwide. We do off others, which sport their own unusual features. Giulietti Blacktop, light mast and the Optimax MK3 spar set. Guide to Spars." <O></O>
Tell your Dad to talk with Bob Adams of Vanguard, the company that builds Optimist sailboats very close to my home. Mr. Adams is a professional sailor and has a son who is also an Optimist champion, just like you are.
Fred, if the guy who washes the boat put 50 litres of water into Giulietta's bilges, tell your father he can just put his angry head into the water and it will turn into steam. Your new English word for today is "evaporation": evaporação
Don't take it personally...you know how your father is about the boat!
He is right about the U.S. money now, though: even with the expense of shipping an Optimist to Portugal, it is likely to be less expensive to buy it in the U.S., maybe enough to get better sails cut in Portugal.
All the young sailors who have Optimists in this part of the country, buy them from Vanguard. In fact, Vanguard builds all Optimists here and sells them to other companies to sell. It is better to buy directly from the builder - they can customize the boat any way you like.
Mr. Bob Adam is the man who sells Optis for Vanguard. I thought his son was a Optimist champ, but I meant someone else - sorry. Here's a website that explains some local regattas with Optis, the NorthSails One Designs
I know this boy's dad (his picture is below). He has won many regattas and sails a Vanguard Opti:
Fred,
Tell Your dad you want the men Who built his boat to build you an opti
Out of carbon fiber you will not take anything less.
It will be a good joke.
Our Club has a bunch of vanguard boats, optis, laser's, 420's, They build good boats. I want a rs feva :O
My dad talked today to man from Maclhauhlin Optimist, and he is very happy.
I am happy also
I like maclaughlin and I like Vanguard also, but I like maclaughlin more becaue it is transparent and I can see the fishes. but also vanguard. So now I wait. My dad sayed he will cal the man from vanguard when he goes to aAmerca
But my dad don't tell me he speaks with the men. I know he did
