GALICIA.. MAYDAY RELAY..

It is always polite and appropriate to take care of our water-ways, I''m not intrested in sailing in a toxic waste dump! I hope no one is. Some of the largest changes in society were made; from people that brought the fight to us!

The form used, I dont think really matters!

Several months later we are still writing messages about somthing that never should have happened in the first place.

By-the-way: drive a Dodge truck which tow''s my J-24. and when the J is sold! I sell the truck to get somthing that uses about 40 mile per gallon. Until then I''ll keep on truckin until the snow goes! when I will be sailing.

Thank you, Albatross, for your post. I will address this situation (and use this discussion) in college classes I teach about the environment. I look forward to my
students'' discussion about where and when it
is polite or appropriate to mention a major
international environmental disaster.

Agreed. Keep in mind, the original poster brought up the subject of ''cars'' (SUV''s). I''d like nothing more than to get back to "Buying a Boat".

P.S. I don''t care if anyone''s car is faster than mine. I also don''t care if anyone''s sailboat is faster than mine. What I do care about is "how good a sailboat I can get for my money"!

This post has seriously deteriorated and I''m not impressed or care with either Dennis''s nephew or frenzy''s car. All who commented on cars are not real sailors to me.

This is the type of discussion I would expect out of motorboaters talking about how big their engines are, trying to compensate for their other "inadequacies". Really who gives s**t how fast your car goes ?

frenzy,
My nephew has a Nissan Z that would eat your little 928 alive.
And...this is a sailing forum, why don''t you loose the 928 in your name. I''m not impressed.

Does your sailboat have an auxiliary motor, or a generator? Do you dock, and if so do you hook up to shore power? Is your boat made of fiberglass?

Face it, we all depend of fossil fuels for just about everything. It would be nice to not need them, but that day is probably a long ways off.

Hey I walk because I bought a boat and cannot afford a car .... whatever.

Dont care what you drive.

This is a sailboat forum so most people obviously care somewhat about nature, etc...

BUT. I agree with others. For those of us that actually monitor more than one section of this bbs it is nice to see a message posted in one area and not in all areas. The Nonsuch 36 question belongs here.

I''m curious. How many more of those who are wringing their hands over this admitted disaster drive gas guzzlers like Albatross''s 130 mph german automobile, and frenzy''s 150 mph Porsche? Who is responsible for the disaster...the people who can''t live without their gas guzzlers, or the people who supply them with oil? Maybe both.

My Porsche 928 is not quite a ''souped up VW''. I don''t really care if you or anyone else is impressed that I drive a Porsche. All that really matters about my Porsche is what I think of it.

That said, I was only responding to the comment about SUVs. Apparently, many folks think all Americans own SUVs. Clearly, that''s an erroneous assumption.
