Hi All - I'm wondering if anyone on this forum has advice on the best place to install a self-contained marine air conditioning unit on a 1980 ODay 30. I'm currently considering port-side settee, locker, or under V berth for the unit itself. I am looking at approx. 10,000 BTU units with a footprint of about 18"x12" and height of 12". A contractor quoted me 7K for the unit and full install, but I figure I can do it myself for 1,500. Any advice on where your unit and vents are on this boat, installation or sizing tips would be much appreciated!
We are putting a 12k unit in our 31. We put it under where the stove was. Was a tight fit but only place I could find room. Running duct in port side settee and up into closet in head with vent in cabin and v berth. Thermostat mounted above nav table.
Thanks for the input here. I did manage to fine a Marine Air 10K BTU unit that I'm able to fit into the port side of the V-berth, so going with that spot...
