Around the world at an average speed of better than 19 kts. Wow!

The area they're doing the speed records is French territory, which may explain the French flags. It could be a courtesy flag, the Swiss flag may be an ensign.

Capn you probably got it right. If 50 kts. has been broken it was probably unofficial. I've done maybe 35 kts. or so on a windsurfer, and I can tell you that water is harder than concrete at that speed.
Don't wanna down grade Hydroptere's achievement, but the smaller the vessel the greater the feel of speed.
And you're right about location - I wish I was(were) in a different one.
It seems to be up to date for 2007, the last posted record I saw was April '07. I'm certain it won't be much longer.
There are many different catagories for sailing speed records, from 1/2 km to around the world. Sure enough, Hydroptere owns one of them. The claim is valid.
I own some real estate but I don't sell or trade it for a living. I just thought "location, location, location" was humorous.

You may be right CapnHand,
according to Wiki - Finian Maynard holds the World Speed Sailing Record at 48.7 knots.
But this info is from Aug. '06 and I'm pretty sure I read something last yr that they've upped it - then again maybe not.
BTW are you in real estate?
