SVDistantStar Seeing as the decks on my boat are grey i wear shoes so my feet dont get burned. Ive always worn Sperry topsiders and as i type this ive got a pair on. I watch the sales at west marine and boaters world. Ive gotten a few pairs for as low as $15. The most ive ever paid for a pair of top siders has been around $30.

Freesail99 Bare feet, I am reminded of a scene from the movie "10" with Dudley Moore trying to walk across the burning hot sand.

SailorMitch I completed your survey, but I buy shoes for fit. I need arch support and that can be hard to find, and no brand does that consistently.

I agree with Dawg about wearing shoes as well. In one trip this past summer I banged a finger loading ice onboard before even leaving the slip (finger still has a lump, but feels ok now) and then jammed a big toe on a clete while barefoot rafting up with some folks. The toe turned all sorts of colors and hurt for a long time.

And a friend broke his big toe in a stumble in the cockpit while barefoot this past year -- I mean that toe was pointing 45 degrees the wrong way. So shoes do help protect our little feet.

sailingdog While I used to sail barefoot... I've since learned that toes break... and wear shoes aboard... Dropping a winch handle on the foot can be eye opening if you don't have shoes on.

I have a couple different pairs, but during the summer, it's usually the Keen Newport Sport Sandals. Very comfy, okay grip, and leave your feet with a tiger-stripe tan.
