LOOKING FOR EXPERIENCED SAILOR

Thanks, did not know, that offering compensation was illegal. Thanks for the information. Guess I will post a new thread and take out the offer of compensation.... Thanks again.

Actually, payment is illegal, sharing C.O.L. expenses with a non-licensed skipper or bringing usable stores aboard is legal. The last time that I looked at that there was a specific loophole that covered that in the US boats for charter regs. Of course individual states may have a more stringent requirement that I am not familiar with.

Unless the sailor you are looking for has a licence it would be illeagle for them to take any form of payment to help you. That includes food or even taking a coke. I am sure however there are many a sailor who would love to have some crew. So take heart just don''t ask us to break the law..

LOOKING FOR EXPERIENCED SAILOR

I am presently taking sailing lessons and would like to experience some sailing with an experience sailor, in the Hampton Roads, Norfolk and Viginia Beach area, willing to pay for time sailing and getting experience. Will appreciate any serious responses. Thank you
