camaraderie Nokomis5...welcome aboard. Great boat...we have good cruising friends that have one and are just in the process of selling it now, but it has served them well.
On the topic of refrigeration, I would recommend the Sea-Frost BD system as it is quite efficient and easy to install and the folks there are very helpful as you order. bd 12 & 24 volt
I personally have a much larger sea-frost, but have installed a BD-XP unit on a catamaran with dual cold plates and customizing help from the sea frost guys during the order process. Installation went like a charm and the owners are thrilled with the performance in a large combo fridge/freezer box.

The Adler-barbour units also present good value and easy install if you prefer an evaporator design over a cold plate. I've also installed one of those after my attempt at defrosting with a screwdriver resulted in a most distressing hissing sound!

refrigeration

Hi - we have a 1981 37' Pacific Seacraft (hull number 5). The refrigeration is getting to be antiquated. What system do the newer boats have - and are you happy with yours. Any recommendation for types of compressors?

Also, I read a really old thread asking about recommendations for readings. I have to highly recommend the two books the W.I.B. Crealock wrote - Vagabonding Under Sail (1951) and Cloud of Islands (1955). They are both out of print but I was able to buy them used via the internet and used books stores. He writes about his sailing trips as a young man - I think these are the trips that inspired his design ideas leading up to the PS 37. He has some fun ideas for rigging small sailboats with square sails and raffee sails - I would love to see a photo of the PS 37 with these sails!
