We have just had a new Phasor diesel and Hurth transmission installed in our P27. The original Universal/Hurth installation had a flexible coupler installed.
The new installation does not have the flexible coupler included. We appear to be experiencing excessive vibration when the transmission is engaged in either forward or reverse. In reviewing the original owners manual, there is mention of proper aligning of the shaft and the transmission coupling. Not a great deal of detail provided.
When other owners have repowered their boats ( or have boats been repowered by POs) have the original flexible couplers been removed or omitted from the new installation?
Does anyone have detailed information about aligning the shaft and the transmission coupler?
Are owners using a split coupler for holding the shaft in place?
Is there a set of bearing aft of the packing gland that supports the shaft? If so, where?, and do you have any specs?
