fcsob C Cushions - Custom cockpit cushions for boats. Spray on vinyl cushions,no zippers, water proof, ect. seems like the way to go.

US27inKS I need new cusions for my boat. A couple down the dock from me have a boat canvas and interior biz. She gave me a ballpark of about 3000 to 3500 to do new foam and covers for all my cusions. Could be more if I wanted high end stuff like fake suede. I think I'll keep looking too.

Anyone have any suggestions in the midwest?

chucklesR I had all (13) fitted cushions on a 1986 Hunter 31 rebuilt, new everything for 1800 delivered.
That's not covered, that's new cushions; including inserts etc..Shop in florida had all the patterns for every Hunter made so it wasn't 'custom' or that would have cost more.

sailortjk1 Nothing surprises me anymore, but yes that does seem a very high.
I was quoted around the same price for new covers in Synthetic/Faux Leather. 6 fairly large cushions and 5 backrests. Of course my wife picked out the most expensive material in the catalog. We passed.

mstern Sounds a little high, but still in the ball park. I was quoted for my Oday 23 (6 cushions, new foam, new fabric, vinyl mesh bottoms, zippers) about $1300, but that was about 8 years ago. The guy I talked to specialized in marine upholstery and good naturedly told me that I wouldn't like the numbers; he said he almost never gets small boat jobs because they are too expensive relative to the price of the boat. I would check out a standard household upholsterer. I spoke to one and they said they would do the same work for about $700 or $800. I still didn't think it was worth it as I don't spend a lot of time below and I don't think my cushions are that bad...

sailingdog Might sound high...but almost all of the marine materials, like foam and sunbrella are made from petroleum products, and the manufacturing cost has gone up significantly on them due to rising oil prices.

pfatyol I had 13, one of which was the pilot berth recovered, for 950. Using the existing foam. No vynil though. Seams high to me.

Freesail99 Sounds very high, I just had all new foam, the seat cushions being 5 inch thick memory foam, 10 cushions covered with new fabric all $980.00.

Just had a quote to recover the 4 pieces of the interior foam (I cleaned from my 1975 Ericson 27) and also re-wrap the plywood for the 2 back support cushions.

Sunbrella fabric, with vynil on the bottom of the cushions.

$1340.

Seem high? or am I just suffering sticker shock.
