tommyt Raymarine will also do diagnostics on your unit and let you know if it is your problem. At a minimum they update it before sending it back to you. The 6000 is a good autopilot. Hope you find your issue soon.

SYMandalay Raymarine has a pretty good help line.....call one of their reps and he should walk you through some steps to isolate the problem.

Zanshin Does the compass show other courses on your display when you are on other headings? If no, then your fluxgate compass is at the source of your problems. You might try to switch your ST6000 to use wind direction instead of compass course (I can't remember the key combination now, but it was just a couple of keystrokes) and see if it steers correctly via wind angle. If no, then problably your compass isn't faulty but your main unit it.

sailingdog Has the autopilot ever worked previously?

Have you checked the area around the fluxgate compass for interference?

Have you re-calibrated the fluxgate compass?

Auto pilot ST6000

I am having trouble with the auto pilot. The mechanics seem to work okay, but I can't get the boat to go to anything other heading other than 063 degrees - how do I know if I need to replace the fluxgate compass or the control head?
