Visited the Wauquiez yard a long time ago and was impressed then with how neat and clean it all was - even a boat under construction was swept up at the end of the workday and tools put away. Other yards I''ve seen haven''t had such meticulous practices. The Wauquiez Hood 38''s, older, but well-known in the US, continue to command top dollar on the used boat market.
They certainly should compare favorably with many US builders. One concern I would have would be metric replacement parts for miscellany like faucets or pumps, which won''t be as readily available in the US as European engine parts might be.

Modern Day Wauquiez
Does anyone have any thoughts they can provide on the current line of Wauquiez yachts? In particular, I''m considering either the 40 Centurion or the 40 Pilot Salon. I''m not terribly familiar with this company and would like to get a sense of where they fall in the "pecking order" of today''s builders. I am seeking a performance-oriented, offshore-capable boat with a draft under six feet, two real cabins and a head with a separate shower (admiral requirement). Budget is up to $250K. Yes, I have started a thread on that topic before, but now that the Annapolis show is approaching and the admiral insists (bless her heart) on a new boat, I''m trying to get my act together.
Any thoughts on the Wauquiez line or other boats I should consider would be appreciated. (Currently also in the running are the Dufour 40 and the Hanse 411).
