JB2 Sounds crazy, but several years ago we put standard "childproof" latches inside all of the cabinet doors on our Caliber 47LRC to act as invisible backup for the ball/friction latches that came with the boat. They childproof latches have worked flawlessly in over 10,000 nm of mostly Caribbean cruising. Despite occasional really heavy conditions, we have yet to have a latch let a cabinet door loose. Although some things have broken in the cabinets from time to time, no unidentified flying objects below!
