davidklien Hi rick, my name is david and I have a 1981 34' Irwin citation as well. I had to replace my mast after hurricane Charley. unfortunately I do not have any pictures but I may be able to help a little. the mast slides over the mast base wich is screwed through the deck into the compression post with large lag bolts. All you have to do is insert the plate between base and boat deck, screw mast base to compression post and gravity/ standing rigging hold mast down, in place.

Hollen Yes and is through bolted for your mast step and the deck. I have pictures somewhere of that as well as a video of the stepping but that will take a wile as I am on my way to Mexico on the Baja HA-HA, Monday.

You have to go all the way to the bottom of the blog but you get the idea.

For the mast base I used this

riptide1 No pics but I had my mast down and the base plate is a flat plate with a raised ring that fits the inner circumfurance of the mast. It's about 2" high and 1/4" thick.riptide

rikhall Hi all

Does anyone have a picture of an Irwin Citation 34 with the mast DOWN. I want to see what the mast sits on. I have looked at mast plates on-line but have not a clue which one to purchase or even if they will work.

Many thanks

Rik

rikhall Many thanks.

We sail the coast of New Brunswick and the coast of Maine. We have had beautiful 10 knot breeze go south on us really fast, with wind coming in horizontal. We reef early and we reef often. It keeps the commodore happy.

I would like to be able to handle the main sheet (traveler is in front of the dodger), the first reefing point, the boom vang and the main halyard from the cockpit.

Thanks for the photos.

I have only heard about mast plates and would like to see one in operation.

Thanks again

Stillraining This is the best picture I could find..One of the stand up blocks is mostly hidden behind the Bimini framing and there is another set of organizers on the starboard side. There are 2" holes in my cockpit combing to pass lines through.

Hope this helps..

Stillraining Rik..Sense know one else seems to have your model and be able to help you i will try..

My 41 CC does not have all lines lead aft nor a mast deck plate..I do have a couple stand up blocks and organizers on deck though which run the Vang, reefing , furller and out haul..I believe you ment main haluard and not main sheet as that will be aft end of you boom not forward mast end..stand up blocks are common for this application also..

One thing to keep in mind when designing your system is to make sure you have room forward of your winches (at least 12") for some type of cam cleats and a fair lead for everything..This most likely will entail cutting holes in your cockpit combing to provide for thoes fair leads..I would be hard pressed to run everything to the cockpit in my boat due to the shortage of flat space and clearance to accommodate everything...Besides I like being on a bucking deck..to me thats what makes sailing fun..take that away and you might as well burn fuel and stay warm and dry in the power boat of you choice.

Give me a few minutes and I'll see what pictures I may have.

Lines led aft (Irwin Citation 34)

Hello again (third post)

On the Irwin Citation 34 that we bought, no lines (other than the jib sheets) are led aft.

So - a number of questions:

1 - anybody with an IC 34 with the lines led aft that can share pictures and expertise?

2 - since she has a deck stepped mast, has anybody used a mast plate (the thing with lots of holes that goes under the mast) to lead lines aft?

3 - our IC 34 has currently has the mast up. Anyone with pictures or experience with mounting a mast plate?

4 - suggestions, pictures of the main sheet led aft?

Many thanks.
