Those houses are designed primarily in response to severe flooding. They're not boats per se.

Actually it doesn't look all that different from B-Dock in my marina. A bunch of cookie cutter Silverton's lined up. When you walk down the dock you feel like you're walking down an alley between row houses. Yuck!
I like it much better over on our dock with the sailors and fishing boats. You can actually see the sky.
My guess is these things offer people a cheaper alternative to houses in the city. That's what houseboat row was in Key West till a storm washed it away...

There is a floating wedding chapel in St.Pete, Fl. built along those lines. Comlete with the picket fence. They go out into the bay, have the ceremony and all that goes with it. Kinda neat.

I like the thing on the lake but I''m afraid the picket fence would end up in the BBQ. Blech.
Rather live in a houseboat than noboat.

Real boats will have a hard time finding a slip.
