You could make a T.V. movie about it afterwards for another payoff. George Hamilton could play one of the rich customers. Cheech and Chong could play some of the pirates. I like Cheech and Chong. What were we talking about again?

I am thinking of starting a pirate hunting business in that area and I am looking for business partners. The basic idea is that wealthy customers would pay lots of money to shoot modern weapons at pirates. The plan would be to obtain a tough steel vessel and dress it up to look like easy picking for the pirates and when they approached, the customers would come up from below and blast away with their chosen weapon.Of course the pirates would shoot back but customers would have bullet proof clothing ,helmets and solid steel cover.Plus surprise on their side.
If the boat that hit the USS Cole has hit an Iowa Class ship they would have broken out 5 gallons of paint and a roller. At 30+ knots a Battleship can cover a lot of ground and the onboard helo and long range guns could take care of the rest. They may be expensive to operate but one on station for a little while could cure a LOT of ill's.....
Heck even a cruiser like the Des Moines (class) would do the job if saving money is an issue...

It does seem the Red Sea is an area to be avoided. Rather than hijack this thread see the new one.

Thanks, Lyn: That is interesting news. Were the situation to continue as it has so far, I absolutely would not transit the Red Sea...even in our tank-like vessel.

I'm actually referring to shelling the pirate ratholes on land in which these people shelter. A smoking crater is a convincing argument.
