rikhall Recent survey:

August 2nd, 2008
34 foot sailboat
$748.00 (34 feet at $22.00 a foot)
And worth every cent!

Knock off the $500.00 I got dropped from the price and the survey cost me $248.00

And I know the boat inside and out.

j34035 Just dont do without a GOOD one. I have had surveys that were total BS because the surveyer either was too ignorant or too lazy to do a good job. Just like any service industry, a good technician/consultant is worth every penny he charges. They will save you money in the long run. Just do your homework and make sure you get a qualified surveyor with references.

kd3pc Deltaville, VA and the lower Chesapeake Bay is $14 per foot for a single engine sailboat, just finished last Thursday and settled Monday.

Just don't do without one.

sailingfool May vary by area but around here I think rates start about $12-14/foot for an average surveyor, the best may want $100/hour with an 8 hour minimum. The best are worth every penny they charge even if you have to wait three weeks toi get on the schedule.

Delirious $15 to $20 per foot length of boat plus 50 per mile there and back. Some also have a minimum charge for boats under 25 ft.
