camaraderie c2c...I have a very good friend who is prepping one out for full time voyaging right now. They are definitely a most seaworthy boat that can take you anywhere.
The major con is that the hull is cored. This presents NO problem if there is NO water ingress or damage but is a potential issue on these older boats. It is quite a repair job so a very good survey on the entire hull is required with particular attention to areas around through hulls and chain plates for water ingress.
These are not speed boats...and they emphacise safety at sea and comfort over pointing ability and light air performance.
Hope this is helpful. If you have any more specific questions as you get into the buying process, I'd be happy to ask my friend for an opinion.

Looking 4 info on the SC 31

One of my top 3 personal choices for distance cruising in a seaworthy vessel under 35' is the Southern Cross 31. Does anyone own one that could share their opinion of PROs and CONs?
