you can go to universals web sit and download the data for the engine, Unfortunitly for you the last newport I worked on we loaded on a truck for the delta about 2 this after noon.
I beleave the rear mounts are on the trans. so if that is the case and you take out the trans, who sits in there holding up the engine. and just servicing the trans from that port lazaret is the pits.
download the hurth manual, fight through the fact it is writen in 4 languages and go from there.
It's not that much more work after you undo the shaft. to pull the engine.
as I remember the trans comes off but I think the bolts are on the inside check the manual.

|3Kioni||For my 1976 Newport 30 with Yanmar 2QM15, the engine and transmission are removed as a unit. However, if, as KeelHaulin said, you install a cockpit sole hatch, you can then split the transmission from the engine and remove it separately.|

Or join the Yahoo group (link at website). IIRC the best way to get at the rear of the engine in a N-30 is to install an access hatch in the cockpit sole. There might be a DIY for this on Capital Yachts; or ask on the e-mail group, someone should know how to do this...

Removing the transmission on a Newport 30
We have a Newport 30 III which is new to us. The transmission is slipping in forward gear and I am betting that the clutch is on the way out. The motor is a Universal 20 and the gearbox is a Hurth HBW 50. Does anyone know if the gearbox can be removed without pulling the Engine completely out?
