Since the OP hasn't made a second post after 12 years, I think we can safely assume that either he came to his senses and gave up sailing, or he was lost at sea.

Now if the juvenile programmers who write the v-bulletin forum software were paying attention to feature sets...each forum message would get paler and paler until it was just a faint gray shadow on the page, when no one had responded to it in five or ten years. Its THEIR fault.

Toby, you "worked for a boat builder" really doesn't tell us much about your knowledge of systems or rigging etc. Take a look at Marine Survey 101 for a few tips on how to inspect an older boat.

My parents are just getting too long in the tooth and are giving up the game.

They have a Dufour Arpege 30', ready to go / in great condition and in budget.

I have all the details on DropBox if your interested.
