Galvanic damage on aluminum tanks is common on ALL makes of boats. One way to minimize it is to replace all noble metal fittings (that means just about every metal except magnesium) with aluminum ones. Go to McMaster.com and check their catalogue.

Yes, same problem. Every Caliber 33 suffers from this affliction. I spoke with Kathy recently, while visiting the Caliber factory, and asked if there had been any reported leakage issues. She says: not with the water tank, but some issues with the fuel tank. I have some suspicion of trouble with my water tank, but haven't had the time/circumstances to run this down. The only 'fix' I can think of is to cut out the top of the quarterberth, then cut out the top of the tank, fiberglass with epoxy resin, and re-assemble using dutchmen, etc..

I have a 33 Caliber, when returning from cruising every year I clean out my fuel and water tank. It seems as though every year I have white deposits inside my water tank that seem to be pitting the aluminum. I have contacted the tank manufacture they tell me it is galvanic corrosion. I am curious if anyone else has this problem and how they have solved it.
