Great boat, Farr design, quick comfy, sails well, and good row away appeal.
Great transom for snorkeling etc.
We love ours

Thanks for your comments. The boat I am considering has not been in charter. You validated some of my research about the fuel tank and electrical system. Appreciate your suggestion of the Catalina alternative and will look at that.

Well...it is a fast boat and built well enough to take you there assuming she is in good shape. The fuel tankage is about 1/2 of what I'd like in the caribe but you an carry some on deck. The stock electrical system and batteries/alternator will need an upgrade if not done already. Personally, I don't like the spade rudder in a cruising boat and I would prefer a deeper bilge and a more sea-kindly motion. Having said that...if you get one in good shape that hasn't been in charter, the price is certainly right and the boat will be up to the task and easy to live on at anchor.
For a roughly comparable alternative, take a look at the Catalina 47.
Good luck with your decision.

opinions on Beneteau 461
I'd like to hear if anyone has experience with Beneteau 461. What are the pros and cons? Planning on cruising mainly in the Caribbean.
