THIS IS A THREE PART NOTICE:

FIRST, BACK STAY ADJUSTER THE ONE I HAVE JUST BROKE!!!. IT BROKE INTERNALLY.
WHEN TAKEN APPART I FOUND THAT WHERE THE GALVANIZED CABLE WAS ATTACHED TO THE LOWER PART OF THE HOUSING(WHITCH IS ALUM.)THE EYE IN THE HOUSING HAD CORRODED AWAY, ALSO THE SWEDGE THAT WAS USED TO FORM THE EYE WAS MADE FROM ALUM. AND IT WAS HALF GONE.

IF YOU HAVE THE ORIGINAL BACK STAY ADJUSTER YOU SHOULD TAKE IT APPART AND INSPECT IT.

I REPLACED IT WITH A TURN BUCKLE AND A SECTION OF WIRE AS A TEMP REPAIR.

SECOND: BOOM VANG
THIS ALSO CORRODED AND BROK AT A MOST INOPERTUNE TIME, THIS WAS EASY TO FIX I REPLACED IT WITH A GARHAUER UNIT IN STAINLESS STEEL AND NO PROBLEMS ( $ CHEEP).

THERED: TRAVELER.
AS AN OWNER OF A FIRST 38S5 YOU KNOW WHAT A PAIN IT IS TO TRIM THE TRAVELER UNDER LOAD WITH THE CURVED BAR THAT CAME WITH THE BOAT.
I JUST REPLACED THE FACTORY UNIT WITH ONE FROM GARHAUER WITH A BALL BEARING CAR, SHEAVES AND A FIVE PART CONTROL LINE WITH A STRAIHGT BAR ON STAINLESS STEEL MOUNTS TO ADJUST FOR THE CURVE.
