carl762 Thank you Sailingdog. Appreciate it. Think I'll get a Seatow Gold Card. They have a local office, too. Great!!!! Thanks again.

TowBoatUS or SeaTow.

mackconsult Both of my boats are under 20 ft, so they fall under USAA home owner policy .

From my previous experience, insurance is a MUST from the exact moment you buy the boat. Plus a lot of marinas require you have at least liability insurance for a certain amount of coverage, depends on the marina. Good thing is, its very inexpensive compared to auto insurance.

mackconsult If you have to get an answer to that question then yes you need insurance. No licenses are needed to sail, but endorsements are encouraged seeing as I have crossed tacks with to many novices in my time.

carl762 If something happens and you injure somebody or somebody's boat with your 25 footer, you'll be sorry that you didn't have insurance. It's really not that bad, money-wise at least in this part of the country.

Any marina will require insurance. License requirements vary by state. Here, a boating card is required for people with boats powered by a motor at 10 hp.

My boat's motor is 9.9, but I'm going to get the boaters card anyway.
