smackdaddy It is supposed to be like that - kind of. But the two divots should line up. The bulb is held in place vertically by that metal piece which does act like a "spring".

donlofland That old black plastic part unfastens from the woodien part by undoing the screws. Then the new anchor light screws back on to the wood part. The new anchor light will have wires that go down the aluminum tube and fasten to the wiring inside the mast. Anchor the wires inside the top of the mast mast to something there so the weight of the wires isn't supported only by the wire connectors. (When I did this on my 27', I had the masthead fitting off, and this might have made the job a bit easier...)

Nbot and the "bent" "z" piece of metal I'm assuming is supposed to be like that and is the ground or positive connection that has the bend in it to "spring" up towards the base of the bulb when correctly in place? I'll look into an LED kit instead as well possibly....thanks much.

Nbot Thanks for the feedback and pointing me in the right direction I see that its this anchor light that I need to replace:

I think that mangled piece of metal is the socket, as it may have been for a festoon type bulb with dimples...There's a dimpled piece in the base that might line up with the bent piece if it weren't bent.

smackdaddy Yeah - that sure does look like the anchor light we have on our C27 (minus the lens/cover and your connectors look bent)

As the bulbs themselves are pretty expensive, you should probably look into replacing it with an LED set-up. I just received my replacement bulbs from Catalina Direct a couple of months ago and wished I would have gone the LED route (especially since I have to go up the stick to change it).

JohnRPollard My best guess is that was an all-around white anchor light, missing the bulb, socket, and dome. If you plan to anchor out overnight, it would be good to get it fixed or replaced. It could be something like this, or similar:

Aqua Signal All-round White

You could get a portable anchor light that you hang from your rigging instead, but at a minimum you should protect that element/wiring from the weather.

Help Identify part on C-22 Mast please

Hello, can someone point out what this is? I'm assuming a light since appears to have a positive & negative connection, looks like missing the plastic dome. But just not sure if this is a "stock" item that I should get running before I step the mast this spring or was a previous owner's custom add-on?

I looked through the Catalina Direct catalog and did not see a part like this listed so assuming after-market:
