Hey all! My name is Kai. I'm 30 years old and new to sailing. I have spent one summer sailing here on Flathead Lake, MT so far. Finding a way I can make sailing into a full time year round occupation is what most interests me. I'd like to find somewhere to live with a rich, vibrant, healthy sailing community of cruisers in just about any comfortable region of the U.S. For full time year-round sailing I know it may mean heading South, and that's fine unless there might be options farther North, preferably in the Puget Sound Area or New England, possibly among the Great Lakes. I'd like to turn my cooking, cleaning, and carpentry/remodeling skills to apply toward boats and coastal living on & near the ocean. I also have experience in retail & customer service. I would prefer a care-taking arrangement or some kind of way to get started sailing and working on older sailing yachts. Learning restoration work is of great interest to me. I would like to live in a smaller, positive, creative, family oriented community to be a part of making and keeping nice. I have no children and am never married. I'm not religious or political, I accept all people. I have a cat, thirty-some houseplants, lots of books and kitchenware:) This makes up my life, and I'd like to find a place to rent like here for around $400-500/month. I need to make about $1000-1500 per month to live depending on the area.Things have gotten pretty tough with very few jobs here and I'm finding I'm left with just my dream of living by the coast and being able to sail as much as possible. Someplace historic, yet quaint is just my style. Maybe I can be a good new addition to a community you know about! And of course my faithful feline and leafy green friends! :) Cheers everyone!

Thanks for the welcome!

It's nice to see people helping each other instead of every guy/gal for themselves! I'm completely new to sailing which I won't reiterate needlessly as it's evident from my habit of reading(listening) rather than posting a great deal. (Who am I to contribute with so little experience?) Nonetheless, I already enjoy being here and being able to "fake it til I make it" and find some work on a boat somewhere I can get some real experience on and actually get back home from. I'm up for adventure, but not an ordeal! Again, many thanks for making me feel welcome! :)
