I also, don't believe a sail endorsement is attached to an OUPV,
I have a sail endorsement attached to my 100 ton Masters License, and it required credible service aboard sailing vessels, and a test.
You can take a sail endorsement class at places like Sea School and take their exam, get a certificate and document your time.

I don't think that an OUPV license has a sail endorsement. You need to get up to master's tickets before you have to worry about that. With an OUPV the ability to captain uninspected sailing vessels is included.
Back when I tested, time on actual sailing vessels was not required for a sail endorsement; all you had to do pass the sail test.
Of course that was a little while ago. Things may have changed.
Why do you say that the OUPV exam is more difficult than a master's?

I concur with taking a course if you can afford it, I got my masters on my own and doing so requires a lot of process experimentation.

|speciald||The time should count. You will need to document your "days at sea" on a form. You should have enough time to qualify for a master's ticket. The exam is more difficult for the "6 pack " than for the master's. I would suggest going to a course as they will give an exam with a smaller question pool and will teach you the answers in the instruction. The plotting part of the test is the part that gets most people.|

OUPV six pack with Sail endorsement?
I'm a U.S. Navy sailor who is also the proud skipper of a Catalina 27. I'm interested in the US Coast Guard's Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels with sailing endorsement. My questions are:
Does anyone out there have experience with this?
Will my 2+ years of sea time (actually out to sea, not just serving onboard ship) count towards my time?
