hi,
Im building a double ender 12 meter boat which i intend to sail all the way to china. Hopefully start end of next year. Im looking for crew/friends interesting in joining. Space for 6 people totally.
The boat is build in aluminium and is pretty strong and safe. will have chinese lug-rig. Prior sailing experience is not necessary but willing to help run the project forward is appreciated. People who can help finish up the boat (sail sewing, sew interior, woodworking, etc) will get prioritity onbaord when choosing crew.
Hello Zeyang-
I am a farmer/sailor and am very interested in joining your crew. I have been waiting for the right opportunity to leave the land and my goats. Currently I am making cheese and working on a "farm to school" project here in Maine. Could you please send more information?
-Thank you
Taryn
Another month passed by. Ive been working on finishing up all the planks and thankfully last week the last plank was tackweld in position. What a boring work. Every week since april i have been doing the same. But this week was different. I start working on the keelplank and to reinforce the wooden frames inside the boat, so they wont get loose when flipping the hull. Anyway, it start to look like a real boat. The first snow is here. Thankfully i was smart enough to build a boatshed around the hull, so even if its not insulated i can just continue work during the winter. Its a little cold but i have a world map and can dream about those small pacific islands while working. Zeyang Join our sailing coop and come sailing to Middle Kingdom.
Agree.
Here are 2 pictures.
boat is a double ender build in clinker alumnium in 8 mm in hull, frames in 6mmx60mmx60mm tbar every 40 cm. insulated and will be equipped for sailing in polar region.
I read your whole thread on WeldingWeb, it is fascinating.
I sail traditional wooden boats and I'm very impressed with your work.
I hope to see you on the water one day.
I tried to contact you via private message, however, because I haven't posted 5 comments before I'm not able to use Private messages. I am interested in joining you on the trip from europe to asia at the end of 2010. I am currently living in a small village on the Bering Sea, called Dillingham, Alaska. I would be willing to fly to europe for the Departure. If you could send me an email adress I would be happy to send you more information about myself and I would like to learn more about your plans. thank you and I look forward to hearing back from you,
I'm currently in Sweden and in a "past life" spent many years sailing small boats back and forth across the Pacific. I am very interested in what you are doing and am impressed with the pictures I have seen of your project. If you're not too far away from where I am up near Gavle, I'd love to come see your boat and shoot the breeze a bit about your trip to China.

Great work on your vessel thus far. It seems as though you know very well what you're doing.
Where abouts in Europe do you plan to depart for your sail to China? Have you had much offshore experience before? Do you plan on sharing expenses or are crew required to pay their own way for food, etc.? Where in China do you wish to land?
I'm a 31 year old male from Canada. I've been sailing since last year. Not a lot of time for longevity experience though I have basically been a full-time sailor on 3 different vessels in 2009. (Raced in the Caribbean - BVI Spring Regatta, Rolex Regatta, Heineken Regatta to name a few, on a J27 for a few months, based out of St. Thomas USVIs). Sailed from the Caribbean to Turkey and then throughout the summer racing on a Benetau 31.7 out of Dublin, Ireland.
There's more I can write about myself, and more questions I have in mind, but I'll leave it
at this for now. (In my profile, I also have another webpage profile through couchsurfing - you can find more information about me there - with travelers and friend's opinions on me throughout the past few years).
Hi Zeyang ,
My name is Ludmila. My husband and me are dreaming to sail. We have never been on a sailboat. We would like to join your company not just for wonderful rest, we want to learn how to sail. We are yang (26 years old), active, sociable, smart and hard working. We are athletic and non-smoking. Now we are learning theory: parts of yacht, rigging, engine control, ropework, rules of the road, safety and many other important things. We prefer to travel to Asia: Thailand and Malaysia.
So now I would like to know your schedule from march 2011.
Looking forward to hear from you.
