I will try cleaning it although I don't look forward to dealing with the smell.
At least the holding tank was pumped.....

Yup! All vented loop nipples need to be added to everyone's routine maintenance list.

|mitiempo||You can unscrew the top piece of the vented loop and clean it. Sounds like it is a bit gummed up and stuck in the open position. When clean it lets air in and nothing out.|

Leaking Vented Loop
I have a vented loop on the hose from the head to the holding tank that squirts not so nice fluid out when the head is flushed.
The vented loop is a Marelon that appears to have a replaceable vent cap.
Has anyone else had the same experience where the vented loop leaks?
Is this a common failure? It sure is a messy failure......The vented loop is about 3 years old.
Is it worth trying to replace the cap on the vented loop or should I movce away from the Marelon parts?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
