|sawingknots||i second arf,i can't remember exactly either but what he suggests is about right,with the plug screwed all the way down the level will be somewhat above the line|

jray, I saw your original post and almost responded, but I couldn't give a definitive answer. I'll throw my somewhat hazy recollection in here to keep your thread warm until an absolute authority takes care of it.
I'm pretty sure that mark is the MAX, stupid though that is. The bottom of the plug serves as the MIN. I found the Yanmar manual confusing when I looked that up myself.

Transmission oil level in Yanmar 2GM
I posted in this in the general maint. thread earlier and then saw the diesel engine forum so I am re-posting this as it seems a more appropriate forum.
When checking the level of the transmission oil on Yanmar 2GM20F with KM2P transmission there is only one line on the dipstick. Is this the line to fill to or a minimum level?
The drawing in the manual was terrible and stated that there where min and max lines. Kind of confusing when you only see one line on the dipstick.
