Removing a Suunto compass

Hey guys,

I have the following Suunto compass in my new-to-me, but very old, boat. I want to remove it because I have something special up my sleeve (ok, you got it out of me, I'm doing a instrument gauge in teak 1/2" teak).

There are three screws that I can see holding it in from the back. I figure I have to take the black plastic trim ring off somehow, but, I don't want to just rip it off if that isn't the correct procedure. Nice compass!

Thank you
RG

I installed the same Suunto compass at a nav station on my boat. That is not a removable bezel - you will have to find the threaded fasteners behind the compass. Don't break it - they are not inexpensive.

Post a pic when you finish the project - it sounds like it will be a nice look.
