smackdaddy Hey jim - welcome to SN dude! And congrats on the new boat. Singlehanding a 34 in 25-30 is no cakewalk.

Got pics of the boat? Sounds like you've got some good stories to tell on the upgrades.

SF Bay Sailer

Hi Folks,

18 months ago I decided to buy a sailboat instead of a house. My previous experience in boating is as a kayak owner so I jumped in with both feet. I've been having a ball on my 1983 Sabre 34 learning both to sail and learning to upgrade and restore my boat. The previous owner kept it clean but it really hadn't been maintained for several years so my first year was marred by systems continually failing. This year has been much easier as things have calmed down. I use my boat 2 days per week practically year round.

This past weekend I anchored out at Treasure Island and single handed home to Coyote Point in 25 - 30 knot winds, quite a challenge for me!!

I look forward to chatting with you on topics of interest.

Happy Sailing,

Jim M.
