I have a window from an 78 Oday 27 which I replaced but is in good condition. I will sell for $20. plus shipping if anyone interested.

ccollins0601 Yes the frames were sound. I put the tape on the inside and outside frames, and re-used the existing screws to put the frames back together. There was a strip of rubber lining the inside of the windows that I kept in place also. I would have liked to replace it (it's all cracked and dirty) but couldn't find anything suitable.

rustyballast I too would like to know more about this. I have an O'Day 30 1978 and the frames on the outside appear cracked. I am afraid if I attempt to take apart and replace windows that the frames will fall apart and I will have an additional problem. Right now I have no leaks though.

Was the frame pretty much sound and where did you put the tape?
Inside, outside or everywhere?

ccollins0601 I took mine apart last summer, scraped out the old caulking, and resealed with butyl tape. Seems to have worked well so far.

O'Day 27 Port Lights

new to sailnet and happy to be aboard.
I have a 27 OD and the windows are leaking. The po did a poor job just caulking the cracks on the ouside. Looks bad and still leaks. Is there any alternative to completely replacing the windows? Its a 1979 boat so cost is a factor.
