Looking good! In some ways it's quite reminiscent of our own similar size/vintage boat.

Looks in great shape. Enjoy!

Hey Mate. Congrats.
We went cruising in company with 'Blue Print', a UFO 34.
Blue print has a shortened cockpit, bigger cabin mod.
Great, fast tough yacht. I know there are a few in WA, but if you have any questions regarding the ufo's, pm me and I can get you 'Blue Print's phone number.

Clicked on this thread to check out someone's new boat and it's mine!

Ah well since it's resurrected I might as well provide an update. The engine turned out to be beyond repair so a new engine has been installed, along with new fuel tank, new prop shaft, new seacocks, etc, etc. Ie typical things you would expect on a 28 year old boat. Nice thing is I've been doing more sailing than maintence lately, which makes a nice change.

To answer a few questions

I believe the design was based on an early 1970's 3/4 Ton Cup racing design, which Holman & Pye, a British design house, modified into a Racer / Cruiser. So I am not sure if it should bve called an IOR racer as I have not been able to work out what changes Holman & Pye made to the 3/4 cup design, or whether a 3/4 cup design was part of the IOR rule. If anyone definitely knows I would be interested as well.

I know exactly what you mean by a "small fortune" :D

When I brought Amadeus the PO thru in some boxes containing various manuals, brochures, etc and included in one file was a spreadsheet showing what he spent during the first haulout. $28k  which included a total 2 pack spray paint top & bottom, osmosis strip, mast removal & 2 pack paint, ceiling and windows rebuild, etc, etc.

Made me a bit happier about the small fortune I had just spent :D .

Its a real shame we are all separated by so much real estate. I'm not much of a one for raft ups (not so much curmudgeonly and misanthropic ) but it would be good to have an Oz SailNet hookup.
