East Greenwich Yacht Club’s Annual Regatta 2011

The East Greenwich Yacht Club will host its third Annual Regatta on July 30-31, 2011. It may not seem possible, with snow due to arrive today and some ponds still covered in ice, that in just four short months hundreds of sailors will descend on the East Greenwich Yacht club to participate in the clubs Annual Regatta. What started out two years ago as a celebration of the club’s 100th anniversary has turned into one of the most highly anticipated events on Narragansett Bay.

Designated as a qualifying event for the Narragansett Bay Yachting Associations Boat of the Year award, the regatta will include something for sailors of all skill levels and land lovers looking to attend a great party. Saturday’s pursuit race will include classes for hard core racers, weekend warriors and family cruisers seeking a sense of camaraderie and competition.

The Regatta Organizing Committee has identified The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as the official charity this year. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has generously offered to extend their fundraising incentives to participants in the East Greenwich Yacht Club Annual Regatta. Skippers and crew in the Annual Regatta that raise funds for the LLS will be eligible for gifts and awards. Anyone raising $8500 or more qualifies for an all expenses paid trip to the Leukemia Cup Fantasy Sail later this year.

If you missed this event last year, be sure to register early because space is limited. Last year’s deck party was one of the most talked about events of the year and it sold out quickly. To register for the event or reserve your space for the party, log onto East Greenwich Yacht Club Annual Regatta - Complete Information and use the convenient on-line registration.
