Cruising in Western Florida

I am going cruising in West Florida for a week. Is there any way I can prepare myself for this cruise and come up with a suggested itinerary? And how can I find out about average winds and weather over there?

Having only cruised briefly on the West Coast of Florida, we don't really feel we are the best source for the perfect itinerary. We would, however, recommend you get a copy of Claiborne Young's Cruising Guide to Western Florida. Also, if this is a charter boat you are using, the charter company likely has a recommended route. Don't try to go too far in just a week. This can often bring too many pressures of deadlines to get back on time. There's a lot to see close to Tampa Bay.

Don't worry about the weather. April is nice everywhere in Florida. If you really want specifics though, I'm sure Tampa has a website that would answer your questions, and the above guidebook might cover that.

Best Regards,
